I grow artichokes just for the flowers and the architecture of the plants. I think that they are just spectacular when in bloom. These were planted from 1 gallon containers last fall.
We moved in to our house in the Oak Hill neighborhood of South Austin in April of 2008. The home was built in 1976 with a full size tennis court on the 1.25 acre lot. We immediately removed the old court in order to reclaim the space for gardening. I grow veggies in raised beds, antique and a few modern roses, drought tolerant plants and whatever else catches my eye in the nursery. I also like to bend rebar into useful shapes and arbors for plants to climb. I garden organically with lots of compost!
